Dr. Howard Eisen is the Thomas J. Vischer Professor of Medicine and chief of the division of cardiology at Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Eisen obtained his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1981, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (1981-84). This was followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Washington University in St. Louis and Barnes Hospital (1984-87), where he received training in the management of cardiac transplant recipients. He was subsequently on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Temple University before joining the Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital as chief of the division of cardiology in 2005. Dr. Eisen was an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association and is past-president, and continues to be a member of the board of governors of the American Heart Association Southeast Pennsylvania Affiliate. He is also is a past chair of the Thoracic Committee of the American Society of Transplantation and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He also has been a member of several NIH study sections and AHA Grant Review Committees. Dr. Eisen has also been named in Best Doctors in America list, Castle Connolly's Top Doctors in America, and "Top Doctors in Philadelphia" by Philadelphia Magazine.
